CPA Seek

Certified public accountant directory

Find a CPA near you.

Search by city, ZIP, and the specialty that matches the problem — a small business, crypto, real estate, a nonprofit, a trust, or income in more than one state.

CPA vs. accountant. Accountant names the work. A CPA holds a license from a state board of accountancy. CPA, enrolled agent, or tax preparer sets those credentials side by side.

How to choose. How to find and choose a CPA covers place, the profile, and what to ask. The other hiring notes are on Guides.

  • License state and number on every public profile
  • Specialties, industries, and services, filled in by the CPA
  • Unclaimed listings can be claimed after the CPA verifies an email they provide

Search the directory

Browse by specialty

Start with the work, then narrow by city. A specialty page lists CPAs who selected it.

Browse by service

These links go to specialty pages. A specialty appears on a profile only after the CPA selects it.

01

Search by the constraint

A ZIP and a radius, a state, or a specialty such as estate and trust.

02

Read the license line

Each profile shows license states, a license number, and whether that field is marked verified.

03

Send a request

The lead form stores the inquiry. Email goes out only when Resend is configured and the address is real.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find a CPA near me?

Search by city or ZIP, or open the state directory for the place where you need the work. City pages are linked from that state page after a listing uses the city. The search results page changes with every query, so the state directories are the stable addresses.

What is the difference between a CPA and an accountant?

Accountant describes the work. A CPA is a person licensed by a state board of accountancy, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory. A tax preparer and an enrolled agent are different credentials. The comparison page explains that split. It does not tell you whom to hire.

How do I choose a CPA?

Name the work, read the license line on the profile, and ask who will do the work and what the engagement includes. The guide on how to find and choose a CPA walks through that sequence. The guides index collects the other hiring notes.

Does a listing mean the person is a licensed CPA?

No. A listing is a published profile. Some rows come from public IRS preparer records and have no state license number until the person claims the profile and submits one. Confirm a CPA license with the state board that issued it.

Does this homepage give tax advice?

No. It is a directory and a set of hiring notes. It does not tell you what to file, what you owe, or which credential your situation requires.

This is educational information about how to hire, not tax advice. It does not tell you what to file, what you owe, or how to answer the IRS. Reading it does not create a client relationship with CPA Seek or with any CPA in the directory.

Claim your listing.

Some profiles are already public from IRS preparer records and have no owner yet. Create a listing or claim one from the for-CPAs page. Free listings stay public. Premium is marked TBD, and requesting it does not charge a card.
